KNOP

Crochet Chain Cast On but it needs to be Long-Tail Tubular Cast On for 1×1 Rib.

Long-Tail Tubular Cast On for 1×1 Rib

Using working yarn, make a slip knot and place it on the needle (counts as first st CO), leaving a tail approx. 3 times longer than the width of the piece to be cast on. Hold needle in right hand with the tail to the back and the ball end of the yarn to the front. Slip left thumb and index finger between the strands, so that ball yarn goes from the needle over the top of your thumb, and the tail goes from the needle over the top of your index finger; hold the ends against your palm, just as for working an ordinary long-tail CO.

Step 1: Put the tip of the needle over, then underneath both strands from behind. Put the needle over the thumb strand only, hooking it so that 1 loop is added to the needle, then bring needle to back under both strands (1 purl st CO).

Step 2: Put the tip of the needle under the thumb strand, over the index finger strand, then bring it back under both strands to the front, so that 1 loop is added to the needle (1 knit st CO).

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until required number of sts are cast on.

As you CO, make sure that you keep the loops over the top of the needle, and the twists and nubs running along the underside of the needle.

REB

The first printing of the Reb pattern has some sections out of order. The correct order to work is as follows:

Center back
Left back
Left front
Join left front and back
Work through the section beginning “Work even in established rib for 7 (7, 7, 9, 9) rows” and ending “Work 7 (9, 11, 5, 7) rows even, ending with a WS row. Break yarn and place sts on a holder.”

Up to this point, you are following the pattern as printed.

Now, skip Arch and Shape armholes for the time being and proceed to:

Right front
Right back
Join right back and front
Work through the section beginning “Work even in established rib for 7 (7, 7, 9, 9) rows.” and ending “Work 7 (9, 11, 5, 7) rows even, ending with a WS row. Break yarn and place sts on a holder,” the same as you did on the left side.

Return to back piece and work Arch followed by Shape armholes.

Return to front piece and work Arch followed by Shape armholes, but leave sts on needle at end and do not break yarn.

Join front and back and complete Lower Body, Sleeves, and Finishing as printed.

Crown shaping
To move up the removable markers after the double decrease is worked, place the marker around the stitch resulting from the decrease. Do this for both decreases every round. The marked stitch will be the center of the 3 sts involved in the double decrease, and the marker makes it easy to remember to start the decrease 1 stitch before the marked stitch.

Sl2 is worked as if to knit 2 together.
