The trapper hat is worked in Brioche in the round, beginning at the top with a circular cast on, alternating yarns each round. The ear flaps are worked separately. Finally, an applied i-cord is added around the edge of the hat, complete with optional i-cord ties on the ear flaps. This provides versatile wearability and multiple ways to style it. Intended to fit with some positive ease.
Tip: Using combination knitting (wrapping purl sts the opposite way) is helpful to maintain gauge when moving from working in the round to flat.
We would love to see your completed project.
