25.5 sts and 36 rows = 4″ in Stockinette stitch on larger needles, blocked
Worked flat in pieces and seamed. Pieces are worked in St st
(k on RS, p on WS) with 1 garter edge st each side. ‘Bending’
stripe pattern on body is shaped using German Short Rows.
Sleeves and body are finished with a folded stockinette hem.
Folded stockinette neckband is finished and fastened in one
step using a crochet chain on the RS. When working German
Short Rows, note that the “turning point” is the space between
the ‘doubled’ stitch and the stitch beyond; ‘doubled’
stitch is always included in stitch counts given to turning point
(as one stitch). Choose the size with 4-10” of positive ease.
For some sizes, two RS or WS rows will be worked consecutively
during armhole shaping due to short rows in Stripe
Pattern. If two RS or WS rows occur consecutively during a
portion of shaping in which Dec row is worked every row,
continue to work Dec row on every row until correct total
number of Dec rows have been worked. If two RS rows occur
consecutively during a portion of shaping in which Dec row
is worked every RS row, do not work Dec row at the affected
armhole edge on the second RS row worked; work second
RS row even, then resume Dec row sequence on next RS
row. This will cause a slight irregularity in the rate of shaping
at the armhole edge, but will not affect the finished fit of your
garment and will be nearly invisible after blocking & seaming.
Use stitch counts to center marker to ensure correct total
number of Dec rows have been worked.
Sample is on 5’ 9” model.
We would love to see your completed project.
